This week was originally going to be all about my eldest, Darby, but we have a life changing occurrence happening ... Darby and Jess’s best friend Dottie is moving far away so they wanted to dedicate this blog to her (and her Mum).
Darby: Hi! Our best friend Dottie has decided to move far away with her human Mum, Dad and Sister and her feline brother ( the less said about that cat on the DogBlog...)
In one way we are really sad about that, we love walking together on a Sunday morning with our Mums (they are usually putting the world right) but we are also super excited for her and her family and we really want to support what they are doing.
Jess and I interviewed Dottie so we could capture her feelings about this big brave move!
Jess: Dottie, welcome to the blog! I hope you will become a regular blogger once you have settled into your new life! How are you feeling about the big move?
Dottie: We’re all really excited, really sad, really happy and really excited! It’s scary....but it’s exciting at the same time.
Darby: What made the family decide to move so far away?
Dottie: My mum and dad have always dreamed of living by the sea. For them it feels like now is the right time to try it while my human sister is still quite young...it’s that simple, really, making a dream come true!
Jess: So what is it going to be like when you get there?
Dottie: Really strange...we don’t know ANYBODY there ... in fact my mum hasn’t even been in the house we are going to live in... but my Dad has!!
And you know how our mums always talk about living outside your comfort zone? That’s what this is - it’s an unknown place we are moving too...it’s a big change which is the reason most people often don’t go for their dreams - they worry about what if it all goes wrong, what if we don’t like it, what if we miss everybody...and we are asking ourselves those questions but also we know that if we don’t go for it now, we never will... and then we’ll never know because we’ll be doing the same old things in the same old safe routines, never knowing if it would have been amazing to live by the sea. We don’t want to stay safe.
Darby: We are very sure it’s going to be an amazing adventure and we are looking forward to visiting you really soon, but let’s just for one minute suppose it doesn't turn out how you hope it will?
Dottie: That’s simple! We just come up with a new plan to either move home or move somewhere else! Like the saying goes - we are not trees so if we don’t like where we are we can move!! Life is too short not to chase your dreams - no matter what they are.
Jess: Thanks Dottie, safe trip and see you soon!
NOTE FROM EDITOR: Of all the women I work with helping them to get the success they want and deserve, fear of being outside of the comfort zone is the biggest self-crippler... it can stop us from stepping up and out in seconds...that little voice saying what if, what if, ... so is your comfort zone keeping you safe, but really you want bigger things?? I’d love to hear what you dream about, and then what is stopping you!
This article wouldn’t be complete without a word to Dottie’s mum... you are such a huge inspiration, I love you, I miss you already and I am also so proud of you for following your dreams. We will see you very soon xxx
